Who we are
St Thomas, Bowlee belongs to the Church of England and is one of three churches within the Parish of Langley. The parish church is All Saints & Martyrs, Langley, the other church is St Mary, Birch in Hopwood. We are a part of the Rochdale Deanery in the Diocese of Manchester.
Welcome to our Worship
We are a small, but welcoming congregation, worshipping in a mix of formal and informal styles. We use the most up-to-date forms of worship now prescribed by the Church of England.
What we believe
• that God loves each and every one of us.
• that God has made it possible for us to know him.
• that Jesus is the Son of God and a gift of love to us.
• that accepting Jesus as Lord of our life brings us into a relationship with God.
Our Music
Music is provided by a live music group, using modern songs and hymns, without losing touch with the ever-popular ‘traditional’ hymns. We try to bring fresh insights into praise, worship, and new meaning into people’s lives that new words and music often inspire.
Children and Young People
We always encourage children of every age to join in and every week we have a DVD, displayed on an overhead projector, to play one of the more modern children’s songs, in which they lead the grown-ups with actions and song.
We have a Sunday School most every week, but not during school holidays and not if it’s a Family Service. Children retire to the vestry whilst the sermon is preached.
